What is the WORLD CONFEDERATION OF BUSINESSES?

The World Confederation of Businesses (WORLDCOB) was founded in 2004 in Houston, Texas, USA. Its primary mission is to promote business development worldwide, recognizing and boosting the growth of leading businesses and businesspeople in every country through the special tools and services that it offers its members. It has over 3,000 members, representing more than 100 countries.

WORLDCOB has a governing body consisting of the chairman, vice chairman, and the board of directors, made up of a multi-disciplinary team of professionals of different nationalities, all with extensive experience in the field of business consultancy and advisory and all viewing the development of businesses as a driving force behind the economy and a guarantee of the sustained development of all countries.

In an effort to offer greater benefits and to continue promoting the business development of our organization’s members, WORLDCOB provides a series of services to businesspeople worldwide through the following brands.

When and where was the WORLD CONFEDERATION OF BUSINESSES founded?

The World Confederation of Businesses (WORLDCOB) was founded on September 9, 2004, in the city of Houston, Texas, in the United States of America, under the name of MPBM, Co. Authorization was requested for the use of the name “World Confederation of Businesses” as the DBA (trade name) of MPBM Co.

WORLDCOB has a governing body consisting of the chairman, vice Chairman, and the board of directors, made up of a multi-disciplinary team of professionals of different nationalities, all with extensive experience in the field of business consultancy and advisory and all viewing the development of businesses as a driving force behind the economy and a guarantee of the sustained development of all countries.

The main offices were set up in Houston, with plans to open branches on every continent. In order to better provide services, WORLDCOB’s second administrative office was opened in Lima, Peru, to attend to our members in Latin America.

Currently, WORLDCOB’s primary mission is to promote business development worldwide, recognizing and boosting the growth of leading businesses and businesspeople in every country through the special tools and services that it offers its members. It has over 3,000 members, representing more than 120 countries.

What is the Confederation’s Mission and Vision?

In this globalized world with its constant economic development, WORLDCOB was created to serve the world’s businesspeople in their constant search for tools that will help them to grow in all of the world’s markets and economies. To achieve this, our organization is and always will be in a constant state of improvement, creating new opportunities through our services, which are designed to meet our members’ needs.

Mission

To motivate and stimulate leading companies from the five continents with the most important business award in the world, THE BIZZ, as well as to hand out acknowledgments to the leaders of these companies;

To promote business networking in order to generate business and contracts between the members of our confederation, thus benefiting all involved;

To promote a socially responsible business culture around the world, through our WORLDCOB-CSR standards and certification.

Vision

To be the business organization with the greatest worldwide presence, covering five continents, with over 20,000 member companies around the globe.

What are WORLDCOB’s objectives?

Objectives

To honor and highlight successful business experiences worthy of imitation, in order to motivate and stimulate leading companies and businesspeople through the most important business award in the world, THE BIZZ;

To develop and promote mechanisms that generate business relationships among our members and with other companies around the world. These tools include: a worldwide network of businesspeople and our EXPOBIZZ business convention, which includes business meetings, conventions, fairs, and more.

To promote corporate social responsibility around the world through our WORLDCOB-CSR:2011.3 standard, which certifies good business practices based on adequate labor relations, social wellbeing, and care for the environment.

What is the difference between Elite Membership and Worldcob Membership?

Membership Types

There are two ways to become an associate member of WORLDCOB and enjoy all the business benefits we offer, as explained below.

Elite Member

This is a special membership, which may be accessed by winning THE BIZZ award. This award brings together leading companies from each country, that are invited to become part of our organization by purchasing a membership. In addition to enjoying all the services our organization has to offer, this select group of businesspeople also has access to additional benefits, the most notable of which is their participation in the most important business awards ceremony in the world, THE BIZZ, which has become a major event in the business world.

WORLDCOB Member

Through this option, all companies interested in forming part of our worldwide organization may purchase a membership and enjoy the services offered by the Confederation.

Members’ Zone: Members have access to a directory of other WORLDCOB members, a highly effective tool for establishing commercial relations. Members also have access to an up-to-date database for different countries.

Trade Brokerage Consultancy: We will help in searching out goods or services your company seeks to acquire worldwide.

Corporate Image Consultancy: Members may request a free evaluation of the corporate image they project in the market. After an in-depth analysis, our specialized team will prepare proposals to help improve your company’s corporate image.

BIZZTRAINING: This provides you with online access to business training on today’s latest issues, with recognized speakers from all over the world.

The backing of the World Confederation of Businesses (WORLDCOB), an organization founded in Houston, Texas, on September 9, 2004, is based on the validation of the organization and its relations. For such purposes, we have compiled the following list for those interested in learning more.

  • Members of the GLOBAL COMPACT:The UN Global Compact is a strategic policy initiative for businesses that are committed to aligning their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labor, environment, and anti-corruption. With thousands of participants from over 100 countries, it is the largest voluntary corporate responsibility initiative in the world. The Compact is a framework for actions designed to help build the social legitimacy of businesses and markets.

    This clearly demonstrates our commitment to doing business based on respect for human rights, labor standards, the environment, and fighting against corruption. Those businesses that join the Global Compact share the conviction that business practices based on universal principles contribute to a more sustainable, equal, and inclusive global market and foster more prosperous societies.

  • We are STAKEHOLDERS in the GLOBAL REPORTING INITIATIVE (GRI):The Global Reporting Initiative is an independent institution that created the first worldwide standard on guidelines for the preparation of sustainability reports by those companies seeking to evaluate their economic, environmental, and social performance. It is an official collaboration center of the United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP).

    From its creation in 1997, until 2002, the GRI was a joint project between the UNEP and the Coalition for Environmentally Responsible Economies (CERES). It was conceived with the purpose of increasing the quality in the drafting of sustainability reports until they achieved levels similar to financial reports with regard to comparability, rigor, credibility, frequency, and controllability. The GRI is now an independent institution based out of Amsterdam, with its own board of directors.

    The GRI includes the active participation of representatives of human rights, labor rights, research and environmental organizations, corporations, investors, and accounting organizations.

  • Member of the U.S. CHAMBER OF COMMERCE:The World Confederation of Businesses is a member of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the largest business organization in the world, representing the interests of over 3 million companies, the majority of which are small and medium-sized enterprises. The Chamber is one of the most respected organizations in Washington, D.C., and defends the interests of the free market before the government.

  • Member of the GREATER HOUSTON PARTNERSHIP (GHP):The World Confederation of Businesses (WORLDCOB) is a member of the Greater Houston Partnership (GHP), the largest chamber of commerce in Houston.
